Values and Rules

  
At Yardley Primary School, we have strong values that guide the actions of both staff and pupils to provide an education that develops a pupil’s personality, talents and abilities to ensure they are equipped to participate and contribute as a successful member of society.

Through a culture of teamwork and collaboration, we develop life-long learners and instil in them the key skills and knowledge to enable them to thrive in the world around them, both now and in the future.

We aim to inspire every pupil to engage in all aspects of school life and take ownership of their learning and personal development. We are ambitious and take into consideration the needs and interests of our pupils and the wider community. We provide key learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom, empowering pupils to question and explore all of the opportunities that they are entitled to.

There are three significant values that underpin our work as a school community: Aspire, Inspire and Teamwork.
 
For each value, we develop and celebrate key characteristics that demonstrate these values at Yardley Primary School.
 
 
 

Everyone is welcome in our school

At Yardley Primary School we value the diverse ethnic backgrounds of our staff, our pupils and their families. We observe a variety of events and our curriculum includes lessons, assemblies and performances to celebrate these. We have found this approach to be enriching for all parties as it teaches tolerance and respect for the differences in our community and the wider world.

We know that the components of British Values are not exclusively “British” and are held dear by other nationalities, it is essential that schools keep children safe and prepare them for life in modern Britain.

 

Our aim therefore is to actively promote and embed the fundamental British Values of:

  • Democracy (respect for democracy and support for participation in the democratic process)
  • The rule of law (respect for the basis on which law is made and applies in England. Support for equality of opportunity for all)
  • Individual liberty (support and respect for the liberties of all within the law)
  • Mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs (respect for and tolerance of different faiths and religious and other beliefs)

 

Actively promoting also means that pupils, staff or parents expressing opinions contrary to fundamental British values will be challenged.
